Did you know that Luigi's name is a pun? In japanesse, his name was Ruigi, which means "the same."

To be honest, I wasn't so sure that either they're fraternal(like my mom and my aunt) or that Mario is older than Luigi. It always baffles me.

Definitely Fraternal twins - I've never thought them identical, but as my freinds and relatives prove, you can look slaggin' close to identical and still be fraternal. And as for not twins... meh. They strike me as twins.

I think they are fraternal twins. I mean, they don't exactly look to much alike, and in Yoshi's Island games, they are both delivered to their house at the same time....making them born on the same day, no? I dunno, but we're all crazy if we try figuring out Nintendo logic XD

I believe that is because Luigi was originally, just a palette change for Mario.

Well, they can't be identical twins, because if they were identical, they'd have the same DNA. Luigi is quite a bit taller than Mario, making this impossible

I knew his Jap. name was Ruigi since the language lacks an "L" sound, but I think I heard about the meaning behind it as "the same" from somewhere before. Well anyway, now I know more. XD Thx.
