Ok, just to clear things. I know Mario & Luigi were born in the Mushroom Kingdom, based on Yoshi's Island. The idea of them hailing from Brooklyn came from the non-canon Mario cartoons and the movie.

Robin Lee followed up on that in this fanfic. I concur with Monica, 's theory of how the Marios may have been in Brooklyn at some point in their lives and returned to the Mushroom Kingdom, as seen in her comic. :3 [link]

I added the top flashback section to this fanfic. According to Robin, the joke about the pet shop fishing is from the Mario movie.

TRIVIA

Panel 1 is a reference back to my pic, "Winter Time." [link]

Panel 2 of course is from the cartoon. I went with my memory on their snappy sergeant.

Panel 3 was inspired by the Mario Japanese Anime. [link] I decided to make him worry about their plumbing business instead. ;]

Panel 4, I thought it'd be funny to have Luigi do the morning cooking and well, Mario's having burned duck or something. O.o;
